Transit Times from Hamburg to Asia
Posted Date: 13 May 2013
According to Blue Water's Transit Analysis Reports, European exporters choosing to ship to Singapore still have a clear advantage over those who ship to Shanghai and Hong Kong. The above chart represents the outbound transit times of competitive liner services with direct arrivals at Hong Kong, Shanghai, and Singapore from Hamburg, Germany.
For each Asian port, the fastest, slowest, and average transit times are shown. The fastest outbound transit time from Hamburg to Hong Kong is 25 days, the slowest is 60 days, and the average is 37 days across direct liner services. Similarly, Singapore has a fastest transit of 26 days, but due to a slightly smaller range of service options, including a slowest transit time of just 47 days, averages 32 days across direct liner services, a full five days faster than transit times to Hong Kong. By contrast, direct liner services from Hamburg to Shanghai have a fastest transit time of 31 days, 6 days longer than Hong Kong, and average 40 days, more than a full week longer than the average Hamburg-to-Singapore transit. Even the fastest transits, then, from Hamburg to Shanghai are only 1 day shorter than the average Hamburg-to-Singapore transit.
