According to BlueWater's Vessel Deployment Reports, total allocated weekly vessel capacity operating directly between North America and Mexico has seen an overall decrease of roughly 4,000 TEUs over the past year. The above chart represents the estimated weekly allocated TEUs between Asia and Africa for each month over the past year.
Trade between the two regions fell overall from July 2012 to September of 2012, from 17,802 TEUs per week to 16,710 TEUs, but rebounded in October. Capacity then fell again steadily, only increasing again briefly in Dec 2012, before falling again and, as a result, overall capacity in the trade is down nearly 23% since this time last year.
