MSC Export vs. Import in Transatlantic Trade

Utilizing BlueWater Reporting's Trade Route Split Report, the above chart displays the allocated weekly capacity in the transatlantic trade for Mediterranean Shipping Company (MSC) for the current 2013 year. The chart compares import and export capacity between North Europe and North America (excluding the Mediterranean and Mexico).
According to the chart, import capacity to North America has slowly climbed each month with March ending with a capacity of 17,074 TEUs. Export capacity has also increased slightly each month with March seeing a capacity of 11,964 TEUs.
The change in capacity is due to an increase in the size of vessels deployed in the trade, westbound the average vessel has increases from 4,761 to 5,014 TEUs. Eastbound, the average vessels size deployed on the trade by MSC increased from 4,965 to 5,014 TEUs.
