North Europe-North America Total Allocated Capacity
Posted Date: 29 Apr 2013
Total allocated weekly vessel capacity operating directly between North Europe and North America has remained roughly the same over the past year, despite seasonal fluctuations. The above chart represents the estimated weekly allocated TEUs between North Europe and North America for each month over the past year.
Capacity between the two regions fell overall from May 2012 to July of 2012, from 63,334 TEUs per week in to 59,489 TEUs, but steadily rebounded from July until peaking in December 2012. Capacity then fell again in January 2013, so much so, in fact, that allocated capacity for the trade, at 59,153 TEUs, was even less than the previous low set in July 2012. Since then, however, capacity has once again increased and has even surpassed the capacity for April 2012, if only slightly, as well as the high-water mark set in May 2012, during the peak season.
