Asia-Med vessel size on steady incline

Capacity and vessel count are up in 2018 on the Asia to Mediterranean trade.
  Utilizing the BlueWater Reporting Quick Capacity Report, the chart above displays the average vessel capacity measured in TEUs from Asia to the Mediterranean for the January reporting periods of 2016, 2017 and 2018. The chart also shows the total number of vessels deployed on the trade for each reporting period. Capacity is measured in TEUs. 
  According to the data, average vessel capacity has increased steadily on the trade over the last three years. Average capacity increased from 10,034 in TEUs in 2016 to 11,000 TEUs in 2017, a change of 9.6 percent. Growth slowed slightly between 2017 to 2018, increasing 6.2 percent to 11,686 TEUs. 
  In 2016, there were a total of 271 vessels deployed on the Asia-Mediterranean trade. The number is at its highest in 2018 at a total of 282, after dipping down to 260 in 2017.
