Asia to East Coast South America trade lane gets bigger, fewer vessels

BlueWater Reporting shows a significant decrease in the number of vessels deployed.
  Utilizing BlueWater Reporting’s Quick Capacity Report application, this chart displays the average vessel  capacity, in TEUs, from Asia to South America’s East Coast. The chart also shows the total number of vessels deployed on the trade.   According to the data, the average vessel size increased 36 percent since December 2014, while the number of deployed vessels decreased nearly 50 percent. Average vessel capacity saw its biggest increase between 2015 and 2016, going from 6,822 to 8,567 TEUs. 
  The total number of vessels deployed on the trade saw a decrease between 2014 and 2016, but remained largely steady in 2017.
