Vessel Capacity on the Rise for North Europe to Mediterranean Trade

BlueWater Reporting shows more, larger vessels deployed on North Europe to Mediterranean trade.
   Using the BlueWater Reporting Capacity Report, this chart displays the number of vessels deployed and the average vessel capacity (in TEUs) on the North Europe to Mediterranean trade at the close of each quarter from December  2016 to December 2017.
   According to the data, both the average vessel capacity and the number of vessels deployed increased year-over-year from December 2016 to 2017.    Average vessel capacity on the trade stood at 7,569 TEUs in December 2016, steadily increasing to 8,179 TEUs in December 2017, with a peak at 9,124 TEUs in September 2017. Although the average vessel capacity dipped in December 2017, there was a year-over-year increase in vessel size of 610 TEUs, or 8 percent. 
  The number of vessels deployed on the trade also experienced a year-over-year increase from 260 in December 2016 to 275 in 2017, dipping down to 254 in June 2017.
