East Coast South America-North Europe allocated capacity on the decline in 2017

Capacity between East Coast South America and North Europe has dropped sharply since this time last year.
   This chart from BlueWater Reporting displays a quarterly snapshot of estimated allocated capacity on the East Coast South America to/from North Europe trade lane for the past year. For the week ending November 27th, 2016, the estimated allocated capacity on the South America East Coast to North Europe trade totaled 21,371 TEUs while the return on the North Europe to South America East Coast trade totaled 22,342 TEUs. Total estimated allocated capacity is down more than 21 percent year-over-year.
   For the most recent completed quarter, ending November 26th, 2017, the allocated capacity on the South America East Coast to North Europe leg totaled 17,267 TEUs, down by 19.20 percent from the prior year. Capacity the return leg totaled 17,284 TEUs, a 22.63 percent decrease from the prior year.
